Justin Wilson has been booted out of Formula 1 because of his height. What are your views on this. Height never stopped Gerhard Berger!

It's true. I read there is no way he can drive this year becasue no car would fit him.

This is the reason why he was looking for a career in CART or IRL rather than F1 because the cars are bigger in those series.

Incidently does this mean that the cars in F3000 are bigger. He seemed to have few problems with those cars. After all he did win the 2001 championship.

Well, Wilson is 6ft3", which is roughly 190.5 cms.
He's not THAT tall imho...

Yea, HÃ¤kkinen started karting when he was 5yrs old.

Wurz is 6'1"; Wilson is 6'3". This can be a big difference when you're talking about the close confines of an F1 car. He said he felt comfortable enough in the Minardi, but Stoddart says that Wilson's size meant that he wouldn't be able to meet the FIA safety standards. I'm not sure what would be the problem, but it could be that he was too wedged in to be able to exit the cockpit quickly (I had the same experience in an upside-down kayak in an icy river; quite unpleasant, let me tell you!), or his head might be too far out to be protected by the roll bar, or his feet might be too far into the nose. Whatever it was, it will probably keep him out of F1 for the near future. I'd suggest he look into sports car racing.

Also, one of the reasons Wurz had trouble finding/keeping an F1 seat was his size.

I think it was Bousten that once had to give up a drive because his head blocked the airbox of his car. I think the safety standard thing has to do with either his head not being sufficiently covered by the rollbar, or being too high above the cockpit sides.

I heard somewhere that Jordan tried to get him to replace Fisi at France, but he was too tall. However, they took his measurments, so if they want him in the future they can design/modify a car to fit him.

You better be winning some karting championships these days.

On topic: A few years ago I was looking into a driving school and you had to be less than 6'1" and 200 lbs. I'm short but not that skinny.

But for guys like us he is pretty tall

I read this some time ago at F1 Live. He could have driven the Minardi if it hadn't been for his height or somethin like that.

Nah, that was Sato - he started when he was seventeen or something. Kimi's been karting for years.

It's a great idea indeed, but the possibilities are quite limited, cause the cockpit has a limit in width as well

Plus another thing, I'd need to build up experience, first.
I really don't want to do what Jenson Button, or Kimi Raikkonen did, only race in a few races, then BOOM! you're in F1.
No, I don't want to do that.
I'll just do an "Allan McNish", and maybe start in my late 20's or early 30's after I've built enough experience and trust.
Hey, maybe, I'll be the oldest rookie in F1 history!! :lol:
