'First all-digital race car'

Postby MonteCristo » Sun Jan 31, 2010 10:00 am

Wednesday roll-out for Virgin Racing
The brand-new Virgin Racing team started up the first of its 2010 Formula 1 cars on Saturday night, with Cosworth's 2.4-litre V8 CA2010 engine bursting into life at the team's Bicester race shop in Oxfordshire. The contender, labelled by the team as F1's 'first all-digital race car', will make its track debut at Silverstone on Wednesday.

Didn't start all that well...

Virgin Racing will be making changes to the front wing mounting area of its car after the part broke during testing on Thursday. With the front wing of Timo Glock's VR-01 having been scattered across the track after Turn 1 at Jerez, the Sheffield-based outfit was forced to sit out the rest of the day due to a shortage of components.

Your computer didn't really get the whole "bumps" and "downforce" thing, eh?

And the team did not pick up on the whole, "bring spare parts" thing either. You would figure all the TV coverage of nose changes would have clued them in to make a few extras to bring right away.

At least they're trying, I guess.

The really terrifying question is: If Virgin are this useless now, how useless are USF1/Campos going to be if they scrape some cash together and just rock up in Bahrain. :o

I think the real question is - Can we still keep calling them virgin after they've done a race? :?
