The 5th
World Championship season of FMBL will again present new and exciting
challenges for all. Like in the 4th season, the FMBLIA governing body
has made drastic changes to the technical regulations. The 1965 Grand
Prix machinery has been replaced for the more powerful cars from 1969
- for the first time aerodynamics will come into play in an FMBL championship.
The championship will take cars and drivers to four continents and to
classic racing circuits such a Kyalami, Monaco and Monza. The pilots
of these machines are a truly international group, from places such
as Canada, England, Finland, the Netherlands and Australia. These daring
and skilled driver's will compete throughout the 14 race season. Only
one can be crowned the FMBL5 world champion. Although this is a friendly
and competitive league where having fun is the priority, the battle
at the front is very close. Along with new cars to contend with, comes
a more level playing field. It should spark the most exciting FMBL season
yet!
Anyone
who enjoys online GPL racing is welcome to join FMBL.
We will
assume that you have Grand Prix Legends, have played in multiplayer
online races before, and have installed the appropriate patches/mods
(ie. GPL 1969) for the current series.
Please
check the "FMB
Legends Championship" section of Farzad's
Message Board for the latest activity going on in the league. All
organized series and races will be posted and discussed on the message
board.
Joining the league:
Please
first read through the FMBL
Rules to learn about how the league is run.
Now, either
make a post at the message board or send us an email
with the following details:
Driver
full first and last name
Nationality
Helmet colour (note you must have a unique car/helmet colour combination
for identification)
Team name*
Team chassis
GPL Rank
name** (must match name used in GPL)
FMB username (so that we can recognize you on the message board)
* You can
either create a new team or join an existing one.
** You are required to have a GPL
Rank account for championship scoring purposes. You can set/edit
your 'name' to match the name you use in GPL by using the 'edit account'
link on the GPL Rank menu.
Note: during
the last three races of the season we can't accept any new drivers,
simply because the risk of a new, unknown driver affecting the championship
is too large. You can sign up during this time however, and join any
non-championship race or next season.
Getting to the races:
We run
championship races every 2 weeks on non-F1 weekends (from Sept ->
Apr). The races are usually held on Sundays at "F1 time" (F1
time = European Formula One race start time). However, the final race
time will be discussed and decided during the week prior to the actual
race. The race time will be finalized and posted in the race thread
title.
The races
will be hosted in iGOR or vroc using a FMBL member's server. We use
a chat room called 'FMB' to chat before and after the races.
If you
do not have the chat-password or the race-password, please send us an
email or PM and we will forward
those precious pieces of information to you.
We utilize
the bandwidth patch
for GPL; it increases the number of visible players ahead/behind you.
This is in an effort to reduce accidents due to non-visibility of cars.
See the details
on how to install and setup this patch on the message board.
Now you
should be good to go, welcome and good luck!
In case you have any other questions, feel free to send us an
email.
